Melanie Jayne Lynskey

Melanie Jayne Lynskey (born 16 May 1977) is an New Zealand actress. She is well-known for funny, soft-spoken and strong characters. She works mainly in independent films. Her accolades include the New Zealand Film Award, an Hollywood Film Award and a Sundance Special Jury Award, and Gotham Award, Golden Nymph Award, Critics' Choice Award as well as Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. Lynskey made her film debut , playing a teenage murderess in Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). After her move to the United States, Lynskey built an impressive career as a supporting actor in several large and small-budget films like Ever After (1998), Detroit Rock City, But... (both 1999), Coyote Ugly (2000) and Sweet Home Alabama (both 2002) Shattered Glass (2003), Flags of Our Fathers (2006) and Away We Go!, Up in the Air!, Leaves of Grass (2009), Win Win (2011), Seeking a Wallflower (both 2014) Then They Came Together (2014) and Don't turn your back (2021). Lynskey received a nomination for the Gotham Award as Breakthrough Performer and was awarded acclaim by critics for her performance as a depressed divorcée in Hello I Must be Going (2012). It was an important moment in her professional career. Subsequent lead roles in Happy Christmas, We'll Never Have Paris, Goodbye to All That (all 2014), The Intervention, Rainbow Time, Little Boxes (all 2016) I'm Not at In This World Anymore, And Then I Go (both 2017), Sadie (2018) and Lady of the Manor (2021) have established her as an established figure within the American independent film scene. Outside of film, Lynskey achieved fame with her performance as Rose in the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men (2003-2015). She was the central character of Togetherness between 2015 and 2016, where she received a nomination from the Critics' Choice Television Awards for the award for Best Supporting Actress. Megan and Beatrice played the roles for the Cartoon Network's Over the Garden Wall (2014). (2016-2018). She also played Molly Strand on the first season of Hulu's Castle Rock (2018) and played Rosemary Thomson in the FX miniseries Mrs. America (2020).
